Collegiate Real Estate Services Group to Speak at Interface Student Housing Conference

June 8, 2009 - PRLog -- Collegiate Real Estate Services Group’s Founder and President, Rafael Figueroa, and Senior Vice President of Management, Cole Heard, are set to speak at the Interface Student Housing Conference in Philadelphia on June 16th. Over 150 attendees are expected including a variety of economists, universities, off-campus management firms, and private investors. The one day event is aimed at educating potential investors about the student housing industry, as well as providing current owners and operators new tools to efficiently manage their properties.
   
Mr. Figueroa will speak on a panel discussing what impact the current credit crisis and decreasing university endowments will have on private / public partnerships. Rafael will be joined by representatives from American Campus Communities, Moody’s Investor Service, Campus Community Corp, Buchanan, Ingersoll & Rooney PC, and Hiram College. Mr. Figueroa’s unique experience forming public / private ventures while a Senior Vice President at Sallie Mae and serving as Director of Real Estate Development for the North Carolina State University System will provide the panel with insight from both the on-campus and private sector point-of-view.

Ms. Heard will be speaking on the top twenty leasing, operations, and management ideas that can make the difference between operating in the black or in the red. Cole aims to educate new student housing investors on the use of technology and accurate market research to project operating expenses and rental growth. Cole will discuss initiatives her team has used under Collegiate’s Property Recovery Division, which provides turnaround property management, operational consulting, and receivership services to third party clients.

In addition to these topics, Interface will feature panels on the macroeconomic forces impacting the student housing industry, financing student housing investments, popularity of acquisitions or developments in the future, and the needs of universities and colleges. Interface will also offer a live student focus group and multiple round table discussions.
