TARBORO, N.C. – In celebration of Better Hearing and Speech Month, Heritage Hospital today announced its expanded focus on speech-language services with the introduction of speech-language pathologist Danita Davis. Davis will work with Matthew Eiban, Heritage Hospital’s acute speech-language pathologist, to help patients experiencing problems with speaking, understanding or hearing, and to promote treatment options that can help improve their quality of life.
“While Better Hearing and Speech Month is typically celebrated in May, Heritage Hospital has the resources on hand to help patients with communication disorders everyday,” Davis said. “Our services are especially relevant for pre-school through high school students who want to expand their therapy outside the school system and continue treatment over the summer months.”
Heritage Hospital offers a wide range of speech-language services, from outpatient rehabilitation to acute care treatment. Heritage Hospital’s qualified staff can help patients with disorders including: articulation disorders, voice and resonance disorders, fluency disorders, receptive and expressive language disorders, swallowing disorders, cognitive-communicative disorders, social disorders and communication modality disorders. The hospital also provides hearing screenings and services to help patients experiencing hearing loss.
Davis received her master's degree in communication disorders from North Carolina Central University after completing her clinicals at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield, N.C. She is nationally board certified with the American Speech-Language-
Matthew Eiban received his undergraduate degree in communication sciences and disorders from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va., and his master’s degree in speech-language pathology from Longwood University in Farmville, Va. Currently, Eiban is working with patients on the inpatient rehabilitation unit, surgical floor and medical floor.
