Manchester Company Produce Swine Flu Newsletter

May 11, 2009 - PRLog -- Following widespread concern over the swine flu outbreak in the UK, health and safety consultancy Shieldyourself has produced a newsletter offering businesses precautionary advice and information on the epidemic.

Shieldyourself, which is based at Manchester Science Park, was asked to produce the newsletter by one of their clients, a food retailer which operates over 60 outlets across England.

The newsletter is packed with information, including what the symptoms of swine flu are, what to do if you suspect you may have contracted the virus and how to prevent it spreading.

“A lot of our clients are involved in the hospitality industry and are understandably concerned about the outbreak of the virus in the UK,” said Richard Dawson, Account Manager at Shieldyourself.

“As are result, one of our clients asked us to provide them with a staff newsletter which has all the relevant advice and information on swine flu in one succinct, easy to read publication.

“That first newsletter has now been produced and is available to all companies with follow-up newsletters planned to help our clients keep up-to-date with swine flu developments and other relevant health and safety information,” he concluded.

Shieldyourself also issued some advice to the public, aimed at helping to reduce the risk of catching or spreading the virus:

•   Be aware of the symptoms, which are similar to those of seasonal influenza and include fever greater than 100 degrees, body aches, coughing, sore throat and respiratory congestion.

•   Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing and dispose of the tissue carefully.

•   Wash your hands regularly with hot water and soap, especially after sneezing and coughing.

•   Clean hard surfaces, including desks, computers and phones regularly.

•   If concerned you have some of the symptoms of swine flu, stay at home and call your local GP, do not go to the surgery or try to “tough it out” at work
