April 24, 2009 - PRLog -- The students of Joseph R. Bolger Middle School in Keansburg NJ are in jeopardy of losing some of their arts and academic programs due to budget cuts.  To help supplement the Student Activities Budget, a new committee was formed to assist in maintaining cultural and artistic programs for Keansburg students.

In a show of support for these students, Rockit for Kids announced a benefit concert to help raise funds for the committee.  The concert will take place Saturday, April 25th at 6:30pm at the Joseph R. Bolger Middle School.

Rockit For Kids is a Red Bank based music program for young musicians, which gives kids the opportunity to play live Rock & Roll with their peers, bringing them together to perform as an accomplished band.  Many of the Keansburg students are members and fans of the Rockit for Kids music group, and recently attended the Rockit concert at Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank.

Bruce Gallipani, founder and director of the Rockit program encourages everyone to come out and support the students of Joseph R. Bolger Middle School.  “These artistic and cultural programs are so important to a child’s development and their expression of creativity.  We wouldn’t miss the opportunity to help fund these programs for this school, or any other,” says Gallipani.

Tickets are available at the Bolger Middle School main office, 100 Palmer Place, Keansburg, NJ 07734, (732) 787-2007 ext 2200 and on the night of the show (if still available).

About Rockit for Kids

Rockit for Kids is part of Count Basie Theatre's Cool School.  The program was founded by Bruce Gallipani as a way to bring young musicians together to learn how to perform live on stage, as a professional band. Each week for 6 weeks, students attend a 55-minute band class with specialized instructors.  The end result is well-orchestrated ensembles of young rockers who perform live concerts in front of an audience of both adults and children.
For the second year in a row, Rockit for Kids band members had the distinct honor of playing on stage at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank as part of the opening act for the Marshall Tucker Band.
