ASEAN+3 versus Global Crunch

The finance chiefs of the members of Asean are meeting with their counterparts from three Asian economic powerhouses (Japan, China, South Korea) to implement precautionary measures to avoid the region to fall deeper into severe financial meltdown.

AseanAffairs' Daniel Schwartz, VP Global Marketing, recently appeared on the monthly show, and discussed the recent cooperation agreements signed between Asean and Korea, China and Japan. They pledged $120bn - $40bn from Asean and $80bn from Korea, China and Japan to ensure funds are available to support the economies in Asean during these extremely difficult economic times.

Asean Roundup appears monthly on NBT Channel 11 here in Thailand, is also available via Cable Television and on www.aseanaffairs.com . The show covers the key issues of the month surrounding Asean.  Next show will go air on April 7th with the focus on the current economic situation in the top 5 Asean economies.
