Asean Affairs (www.aseanaffairs.com) and the Asian Strategic & Leadership Institute (Asli) of Malaysia (www.asli.com.my) are co-hosting the 6th Annual Asean Leadership Forum in Bangkok. This premier event will be held at the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit on June 19th, 2009.  Prime Minister, H.E. Abhisit Vejjajiva has been invited to officiate and deliver the Keynote Address at the conference as Thailand is the host country.  Each year the Asean Leadership Forum shifts to the country of the Chairman of Asean, this year it is Thailand’s turn to be the host.

The ASEAN Leadership Forum is organised annually to bring together top government policy-makers, senior diplomats, business leaders, foreign investors and the media to discuss the Future of Asean. The forum will address the key challenges facing Asean, the economic prospects and investment opportunities available in the region and the crucial steps necessary to further strengthen regional economic and business cooperation.

The 6th Asean Leadership Forum convening in Bangkok will take stock of the critical issues facing Asean after the global economic crisis, evaluate the strategic challenges ahead, search for consensus on what needs to be done and identify emerging business and investment opportunities.  This is the Forum for leaders of Asean’s business community, civic organisations and academic institutions to come together to re-affirm their confidence in ASEAN’s future.
