Portland, Oregon– PRA is currently recruiting subjects to participate in a clinical research study for people with balance problems due to peripheral vestibular dysfunction. At least half of the overall United States population is affected by a balance or vestibular disorder sometime during their lives.
This study will assess the safety and efficacy of training with the BrainPort® balance device for people with balance problems due to peripheral vestibular dysfunction (inner ear problems). The BrainPort balance device, developed by Wicab, Inc (Middleton, WI), is an investigational medical device that provides head and body position information to a person via their tongue.
People may be eligible to participate in the study if they are 18-79 years of age, have been diagnosed with the vestibular problem for at least 3 months, have ongoing balance problems, and are willing to come to the clinic for testing and training. Eligible participants perform the majority of the training with the device at home over a 7 week period.
For additional information regarding study participation, please contact Kevi Ames, PT at 503.292.0765 or by e-mail at kevi@progrehab.com
