Jan 16, 2009 – Local Toledo area residents, and residents from surrounding cities, are invited to join the peace rally for Gaza. It will be held on the corner of Sylvania and Talmadge, and will take place from the hours of 3:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, January 17. This rally is meant to promote and raise awareness regarding the on-going genocide occurring in Gaza.
The Israeli army is massacring the civilians of Gaza. More than 1,000 Palestinians have been massacred in 19 days, and children account for one-third of the dead*. In accordance with statistics, only thirteen Israelis have been killed in the conflict, including three civilians and ten soldiers*. Phosphorous missiles have been used by the Israeli army on the heavily inhabited Gaza Strip. The chemical found in such missiles are proven to burn away human flesh to the bone. White phosphorous is only to be used as an “obscurant”
to cover troops during war, so their movements cannot be seen nor traced, yet is being used on civilians. Israeli troops have also shelled Gaza civilians. According to an Al-Jazeera article titled Israel Shelled Gaza Civilians, Israeli forces shelled a house after moving 110 Palestinian civilians inside of it. Israelis shelled the house repeatedly, killing the majority within. Protestors are to call out for the termination of such hostilities as soon as possible. Protestors are encouraged to convey this message through visuals, such as flags, signs and pictures.
Residents of Toledo and surrounding cities are invited to join the peace rally for Gaza, which is being held this Saturday, January 17 at 3:45 p.m. on the corner of Sylvania and Talmadge. Protestors are to call for an immediate end to the mass execution of the innocent men, women and children of Gaza. We are residents of Toledo and surrounding areas going out to protest against the genocide happening in the Gaza Strip. We are encouraging everyone with a heart to go out and support the people of Gaza. We need the hositilies to end. We are calling out for an end to this ruthless war carried out by Israel. Almost 1200 people have been butchered and over 5200 have been wounded in 21 days. This mass execution of the people of Gaza must end as soon as possible.
