The burden of Psoriasis, incurable at this stage, takes a heavy toll on the patient and his/her family’s finances due to lifelong treatments and medications.
Although not contagious, psoriasis patients find it extremely difficult to find an employment that will afford his prescriptions. Others are lucky to find jobs only to be displaced from work because of discrimination once his/her skin flares up. Imagine if the patient is the head and sole breadwinner of the family. What will happen to him/her? His/her family, children?
Psoriasis Livelihood Assistance Network (PLANET) is a Psorphil project that tries to address this problem of the community. With the small, interest-free capital that we lend to members, we hope to assist them with the small business they are going to put up.
But sourcing the funds for this project is extremely difficult as the country has been besieged by various calamities and hardships.
Meet the Hug-Me-Bears.
Bears are for hugging. Hugging is the best expression that we can display to demonstrate that psoriasis is not contagious. As the stars hug the psoriasis patients during the campaign, you can do the same when you get a Psorphil bear. For a minimum donation, you will be offered a bear that wears a shirt “Hug-Me, I am not contagious...Psoriasis is not contagious”. These bears will eventually be made by patients who may not have a good chance of finding a job. The employment and livelihood that these cuddly and hug-gable bears can generate puts them into the pedestal as the stars that hugs the patients during the launching of the Hug Me Campaign.
The Hug Me Bears are the other stars of the campaign as they provide livelihood to many members of the psoriasis community. Hug and get a Psorphil bear now and help spread the news that psoriasis is not contagious.
