This time around, PattyCakes Competitions sponsored an essay contest seeking couples who did not have the resources to have a wedding. Couples sent in their love story and explained why they are deserving of a wedding and reception.  Darnell Hall sent his love story in, and he and his fiancé Michelle Williams were chosen as the recipients of a beautiful wedding ceremony and reception. The bride-to-be is scheduled to be deployed to Korea and was given a few months to get married or be separated from her fiancé and their children for three years. PattyCakes Competitions and a group of professional event planners, coordinators and a few compassionate sponsors stepped in to create the couple’s dream wedding and reception. “Thanks to our many sponsors and contributors, the wedding cake competition and live marriage ceremony will be spectacular for all,” says Patty Green, owner and event coordinator of PattyCakes Creative Cakes Competition.

“It is my hope to inspire pastry chefs, cake bakers and cake artists to come together to promote business growth and to show off their awesome techniques and creative designs,” says Green. “I so enjoy holding competitions. I am meeting people who share my passion for life, learning, baking, and growing as a person. I, along with many cake artisans are determined to carry on the conclave of baking from the heart and soul,” explains Green

Who said you can’t have your cake and eat it too? “I have the best job in the world.  I am meeting people who share my passion for life, learning, baking, and growing as a person. I love everything about baking and the fascination with what you can do with a few simple ingredients.  Baking has been a lost art for a long time. The industry has been revolutionized so much that I, along with many cake artisans are determined to carry on the conclave of baking from the heart and soul,” explains Green.

Green, a well-known event planner in Philadelphia has been passionate about cakes since childhood. She started baking cakes for family, friends, neighbors, businesses and church events over 20 years ago and the rest is history. “It all began with my granddaddy baking great gingerbread cakes when I was a little girl.  I watched and handed him the ingredients,” she says.  Green, when not planning the competitions, bakes and donates cakes to orphanages, prison ministries and recovery centers, shelters, nursing homes, and battered women and children homes.  Green  held many cake competitions in Philadelphia, PA before relocating to Atlanta.
