CHARLOTTE, N.C. - May 3, 2024 - PRLog -- As the weather continues to get warmer, homeowners are eager for pool season to begin. The board should ensure that the pool is in top condition and ready for daily use before allowing any swimming to commence. Kuester Management Group has released a statement to the press regarding pool safety tips and maintenance.

"If the pool has been closed all winter, it's a good idea to get a professional company to come out and conduct a thorough inspection," says Bryan Kuester, President of Kuester Management Group. "Make sure that the pool system is working properly including pumps, drains, lights, and other features. Confirm that chemical levels are in safe ranges and that there is a schedule in place for pool cleaning throughout the season. Also check for damage to the pool deck and any furniture or umbrellas that are set up for guests to use."

Verify that appropriate signage is in place, especially if there are no lifeguards on duty, says Kuester. Post "Swim at Your Own Risk" signs along with a list of pool rules where they are clearly visible. Send reminders via postal mail, email, newsletters, or other means to remind homeowners of guidelines and expectations – plus the consequences for breaking them.

Common rules often cover things like wearing proper swim attire, not running or pushing others near the water, not bringing glass into the pool area, not diving, not swimming while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and not swimming during inclement weather. If there have been any changes since last season, make sure members are made aware.

"Keep safety equipment nearby such as life preserver, first aid kit, and AED machine just in case," says Kuester. "Encourage homeowners to look out for one another while at the pool, whether there is a lifeguard or attendant there or not. They should also report violations to the board so that they can deal with issues accordingly."
