POMPTON PLAINS, N.J. - April 30, 2024 - PRLog -- BayView Entertainment LLC is proud to announce that its 70th Anniversary release of the film, Robot Monster, restored by the 3-D Film Archive, has won the "Best Blu-Ray" and "Best Restoration" prizes at the 22nd Annual Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Awards.

In addition to the above-mentioned honors, Robot Monster was a runner-up in the Best Event category for its NYC theatrical premiere and also earned "honorable mention" in the Best Commentator category for its commentary track featuring the film's last surviving cast member, Gregory Moffett.

The Rondo Hatton Classic Horror Awards were created by David Colton and Kerry Gammill in 2002. The fan-based awards have no connection to any commercial sponsor. Anyone in fandom can vote or propose nominees.

News of the award led film historian Jerry Beck to ponder, "Is this the first 'BEST' prize Robot Monster has ever won?" Beck's allusion to more dubious critical assessments of the past underscores the positive reevaluation the film is receiving, as viewers see it in a whole new light thanks to its stunning restoration.

"The fans have spoken, bringing this project full circle," says Bob Furmanek, film historian, preservationist, and president of the 3-D Film Archive. "Derided for years, my main goal with this restoration was to show viewers the film does have merit, not just of the earnest, low-budget variety, but also in its ingenuity and creativity. What I hear from fans over and over is that seeing the film restored is like seeing it for the very first time!"

"We are beyond thrilled to have the restoration of Robot Monster in our content library," says Peter Castro, VP of Acquisitions at BayView. "The ecstatic response both theatrically and on physical media has been tremendous, which is astounding for a 70-year-old film. We are looking forward to our next two collaborations with the 3-D Film Archive: Domo Arigato and Dragonfly Squadron."

Adds Furmanek, "The 70th Anniversary 3-D restoration of Robot Monster was truly a labor of love for everyone involved. On behalf of the entire 3-D Film Archive team, we thank you very much for your interest and support!"

Robot Monster: the 70th Anniversary Restoration in 3-D is available direct from Bayview (http://www.bayviewentertainment.com), Amazon, Walmart, and other retailers of Blu-Rays and DVDs.

Founded in 1990 by Bob Furmanek, the 3-D Film Archive is the first organization dedicated to saving and preserving our stereoscopic film heritage. They have located and restored original dual-strip 35mm polarized 3-D prints of more than thirty features and two dozen shorts from 1922-1955.
