CAS DataLoggers provided a data logging solution for an established last-mile delivery vehicle manufacturer's new fully electric vehicle. The battery supplier required a complete record of the battery's health and performance, critical for maximizing efficiency and assigning value at the end of the lease. The manufacturer needed a data logger to record CANbus battery health and electrical system data at a down-sampled rate of once per second. Various strategies were considered, but it was decided to record the 1-second data for a 90-day period for offloading during maintenance checks via USB.

Installation

The manufacturer installed a customized version of the Influx RexGen Air in the vehicles, without the GPS or cellular streaming features to reduce cost. It features a Molex connector for easy connection to the vehicle's wiring harness and allows for data recording and unloading.

Usage

The RexGen Air is a versatile data logging solution capable of capturing real-time data from various sources. It evaluates driver performance, vehicle and battery health, and provides a full-featured tool for engineering data acquisition and vehicle testing. The RexGen Air is a versatile data acquisition system with two analog inputs, 18 Hz GNSS, LTE modem, and a backup battery for accurate timestamps. Its compact enclosure and Molex Mini50 connector allow seamless integration into automotive environments.

The engineers easily set up the RexGen Air using the RexDesk configuration software. The output is standard XML, editable with any ASCII text editor. Logging configurations were quickly constructed using the intuitive graphical interface. Importing industry-standard dbc formats and exporting data to CSV and other formats are also possible.
