RFiD Discovery launches new powerful handheld reader

MILTON KEYNES, U.K. - July 3, 2018 - PRLog -- RFiD Discovery has partnered with NordicID to add a new powerful and versatile handheld RFID reader to its portfolio of market leading RFID tracking solutions for the healthcare industry.

Adding to the functionality of their established range of handheld readers, the new NordicID Medea UHF RFID Adaptive Cross Dipole boasts a read range of up to 8 metres for passive UHF RFID tags and is also capable of detecting active tags and reading barcodes. With an outstanding battery capacity of 7000 mAh, it provides up to 16 hours of intensive use, ensuring users are never caught short of power during a long shift.

Outstanding detection performance is guaranteed through the ability to select different read modes: A proximity mode enables the user to locate a specific tag to within 1cm by displaying on screen whether the reader is getting closer or further away from the target. The cross dipole mode provides an extra-long read range, whilst in circular mode the reader achieves maximum inventory speed.

A large user-friendly 4.3" touchscreen and pistol grip with trigger button ensure excellent ergonomics and quick operation. The rugged dust and splash proof design prevents damage to the reader and improves longevity.

The option to detect active tags via Bluetooth connection to a mobile active reader together with the ability to read bar codes make the NordicID Medea the all-in-one device for RFID asset management.

The new reader forms part of the market leading RFiD Discovery asset tracking system, which is used by a growing number of hospitals throughout the UK to track the locations of medical devices and other assets. By tracking devices such as infusion pumps, syringe drivers, feeding devices, scanners, monitors, mattresses and beds, the system helps hospitals cut capital expenditure by improving utilisation levels and reducing the need to purchase additional equipment.
