Asia Experts Added to Faculty on Supply Chain Risks & Rewards in Emerging Markets Program

Event to Focus on Regulation and Best Practices for International Supply Chains

WASHINGTON - Sept. 1, 2016 - PRLog -- Experts on Asia have been added to the faculty for the program on "Supply Chain Risks & Rewards in Emerging Markets." The conference will be at the offices of Baker & McKenzie at B&M's White House Conference Room, 815 Connecticut Ave. N.W., Washington, DC 20006 on October 13, 2016.

Sponsors of the event include the Emerging & Frontier Markets Association, the law firm of Baker & McKenzie, TRACE Int., Zurich Insurance and Deloitte. It is also being conducted in cooperation with the International Section of the American Bar Association and many fine media partners.

Gary Brown, the conference organizer, notes that Asia considerations will be a key part of the conference and other emerging markets in other parts of the world will also be covered.

According to Gary Brown, "Firms that have supply chain responsibilities including Asia sourcing, know how important some of these issues are:

* Vetting and selecting suppliers, vendors and agents;
* Using insurance to mitigate risk;
* Avoiding and defending supply chain disputes;
* Training, educating, and monitoring vendors."

The luncheon speaker will be Gang Xu of the Associate General Counsel of The Hershey Company in support of its global supply chain services. He will focus on his experience with regulatory issues when working with suppliers and third parties in China, India and Malaysia. Gang joined The Hershey Company in 2013 with a diverse international legal background. He served as the General Counsel and Vice President of McDonald's (China) Co. Ltd., and the Legal Director and Associate General Counsel of Walmart (China) Investment Co., Ltd.

Another speaker with strong Asia experience is Matt Andrew, from EY who has extensive experience in structuring operating models and transfer pricing for US and European multinationals in Asia-Pacific with a focus on consumer products.In addition Philip Langford of the Southeast Asia International Justice Mission has broad experience in emerging and frontier markets partnering with host countries to strengthen the  justice system capacity, and another panelist Susan Lau of Wells will provide a practical corporate experience.

The event will also feature sessions on working with third parties and suppliers in other emerging markets and industries such as in Africa, East Europe, and the Middle East.
