San Diego Set to Become U.S. Footgolf Capital in 2016

The number of footgolf courses has doubled in the past year, with more in the works
SAN DIEGO - April 25, 2016 - PRLog -- FootGolf San Diego, the local force behind the fastest growing sport in the country, is poised to make San Diego the Footgolf Capital of the U.S. in 2016. With the addition of footgolf to Reidy Creek Golf Course, there are now eight courses in the county that offer the sport.

"Footgolf is exploding in San Diego," said Ariel Fajerman, Founder of FootGolf San Diego. "With a large soccer-mad population, lots of golf courses, and great weather year-round, it's easy to see why this sport has taken off in the area."

Mission Bay Golf Course has seen a 200% month over month increase in their footgolf rounds since they opened in August 2015. "The number of players that have come out to play has been fantastic," said Scott Bentley, Mission Bay Golf Course Manager. "They especially enjoy playing at night under the lights."

Reidy Creek Golf Course in North San Diego County is the latest course to add footgolf. "We are excited to bring in a new audience with footgolf," explained Erik Agnew, Head Golf Professional. "There are a lot of youth programs and soccer clubs in the area that might never come to the course. Now, footgolf offers a great way for them to come and play a sport that's fun for all ages and skill levels."

FootGolf San Diego is in talks to bring footgolf to more courses this year. In addition, they have a host of local tournaments and charity events planned for the summer and fall. They are also an official partner of the YMCA of San Diego County, and will be putting on week-long footgolf camps for Y kids at courses all over the county throughout the summer.
