Dinner and Auction Supports STEAM Education

MOUNT PROSPECT, Ill. - March 3, 2016 - PRLog -- The Science Academy of Chicago is hosting its annual silent auction and fundraiser on Friday, March 4 to support growth and the expansion of the STEAM focused preschool and elementary school.

Over 200 people will gather on Friday to support STEAM education and to witness STEAM in action.  STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) unlike STEM education includes art and aims to encourage the integration of art design in the center of STEM.  Guests will be able to visualize this integration through displays presented by teachers and sponsors.

“There will be a number of interactive displays where guests can experience STEAM,” said Danielle Fazio, kindergarten teacher and activities coordinator. “At one station, guests will be able to make colorful mock tail and learn the science and art behind mixing colors and drinks.”

Proceeds from the silent auction and dinner will go towards developing a new electrical class for upper grades and to continue the Lego robotics program for the younger grades.  The funds will also support various competitive teams at the school such as the Robotics Club and the Math Team.
