FORT MYERS, Fla. - Feb. 1, 2016 - PRLog -- On Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, the Wounded Warrior Anglers of America, Inc. presented Hodges University’s Dr. Peter Thomas Veterans Services Center (VSC) in Fort Myers with a pool table to be used by veteran students.

Capt. David Souders, founder and president of Wounded Warrior Anglers of America, Inc. and Hodges student, donated the pool table to Hodges’ VSC. Coordinating with David Cravens, owner of A-1 Billiards & Pool Table Repair, Inc., Cravens and his team donated their time and materials, free of charge, to have the table leveled, felted and delivered.

“I have family members who are veterans, so when I found out that this pool table was for not only a university, but for a center that is dedicated to helping student veterans returning to school, it just made sense to take on this project,” said Cravens.

“One aspect of the military that resonates with veterans is often times the comradery we experienced with our brothers and sisters in arms,” said Christine Manson, director of the Dr. Peter Thomas Veterans Services Center at Hodges. “The VSC is committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment where veteran students can come and build relationships with other veterans. The pool table will be an excellent focal point to facilitate dialogue and relationships.”

Searching for ways to bring veteran students together and form a sense of camaraderie, Manson spoke with Souders about finding a pool table for the center.

“I told Christine that I would be willing to look into finding a pool table for the center. I found one in good condition and decided to purchase it and donate it to the center,” said Souders. “This is a great way to give back.”

“David Souders and David Cravens’ contribution to the VSC is going to impact our veterans in ways that cannot be articulated. Their generosity and support will have a long-term effect on the VSC and the veterans we serve,” said Manson.
