DURHAM, N.C. - Jan. 29, 2016 - PRLog -- Kids ‘R’ Kids RTP has been approved by the state of North Carolina to offer a private kindergarten to families in Durham and Raleigh.  Families in search of an outstanding, diverse curriculum with low student to teacher ratios are excited about this new offering. Kids ‘R’ Kids RTP is hosting an open house on February 18th, 2016 at 6 p.m. Free childcare is available on-site.

“A public kindergarten may fit your family perfectly,” Lynn Rasmussen, owner of Kids ‘R’ Kids RTP explained. “However, some parents in the Raleigh-Durham area did not feel the base school where their child is assigned met their standards. Having graduated many preschoolers into the public school system, we have heard from parents, over nine years, how well prepared their children were for kindergarten.  Many of our graduates were at the top of their class in reading, and math.”

The Kids ‘R’ Kids RTP Kindergarten program is designed to prepare children to be academically ready to enter first grade upon graduation. Children will not feel like outsiders because they will be socially, academically, and emotionally on par with their peers --- and in many cases, ahead of them. For example, in our 3 and 4-year-old classrooms, we teach money and economics -- this is part of the first grade curriculum in the public school system. Kids ‘R’ Kids RTP is committed to continuing this tradition of academic excellence in the new private kindergarten program.

Lori Bowen, a current parent, said about Kids ‘R’ Kids RTP and the new kindergarten, “We’ve been so proud to be Kids ‘R’ Kids parents with two kids going to this preschool. There’s no doubt that the curriculum at Kids ‘R’ Kids prepared our son Joshua for elementary school. He graduated Kids ‘R’ Kids RTP with the knowledge and the confidence to be successful. It’s clear that the caring teachers are passionate about helping children grow and learn. I believe Kids ‘R’ Kids kindergarten program is an excellent opportunity and will benefit all the children who get to attend it.”

Principals love students who have graduated from Kids ‘R’ Kids because not only are they well prepared they also know how to act in a classroom and interact with other students.  “Our school will fulfill many needs,” added Neeti Sobti, Curriculum Director at Kids ‘R’ Kids RTP. “Children who did not get into the magnet, charter, or year-around school they applied to, and would like to try again next year fit our program. Many children miss the kindergarten cut-off date by a few weeks. Their parents do not want them to stay in a preschool classroom. We designed an exceptional kindergarten program at a very reasonable price to meet the needs of these families.”  Children who graduate from our Kindergarten program who have meet the standards for first grade may be able to go into first grade even if they missed the cut off for kindergarten last year.  According to the state, admission into first grade is determined by the scores and is at the school principal’s discretion. “On our end, we will do our best to prepare the children,” said Lynn Rasmussen. “The rest is up to the school you select for first grade.”

From foreign language, art, physical education, music and STEM, Kids ‘R’ Kids RTP has taken great effort to develop a holistic and comprehensive curriculum that exceeds the expectations of both parents and children.

The new kindergarten program will operate on a traditional school calendar.  The school day will begin at 8:30 AM and end at 3:30 PM. On-site before and after school care will be available (Traditional calendar has the summer off. Kids ‘R’ Kids RTP offers an on-site summer camp program, if required).

We will use the same assessments that are used by Durham and Wake counties.  These assessments will be familiar to staff in the public school system, thus making a determination as to student level standard.

Brandi Roehr, another parent offered this endorsement of the new kindergarten program, “My son Cooper started at Kids ‘R’ Kids RTP when he was 3 months old. He graduated this past summer… Just recently, Kids ‘R’ Kids decided they were going to open up a private kindergarten, which I think is really exciting… because I love this place. I can’t say enough about the teachers. I knew when I got pregnant with my second child that she was going to come here as well. This has been a great experience for us. I’m excited because I know one of the new kindergarten teachers is amazing, my son had her when he was five... This is a great extension Kids ‘R’ Kids RTP is adding on – I feel that Kids ‘R’ Kids really prepared him for kindergarten. Not only socially, but education… homework. I’m really excited for this new addition – it’s just a wonderful school!”
