Brainerd Lakes Area organizations join forces to drive winter tourism

Visit Brainerd, Mount Ski Gull, and three local area Chambers of Commerce form tourism partnership in 2016 to promote winter travel to the Brainerd Lakes Area, Minnesota's winter playground.

BRAINERD, Minn. - Jan. 5, 2016 - PRLog -- Visit Brainerd, Brainerd and Baxter, Minnesota tourism bureau, is known for its aggressive marketing of the Brainerd Lakes Area as Minnesota’s summer and winter playground. Utilizing extensive print, digital, video, and social marketing, the organization promotes its message to the entire region with heavy focus on the Minneapolis/St. Paul and Fargo/Moorhead markets.

To maximize reach and investments, Visit Brainerd has partnered with local businesses and attractions over the past couple years. Partnerships include a strong presence at the Northwest Sport Show in Minneapolis and the Fargo Sportsman & Vacation Show shared by Visit Brainerd, the Nisswa Chamber, Lakes Jam, Destiny Cruises, and Paul Bunyan Land. In 2015, Visit Brainerd partnered with the Brainerd Lakes Chamber of Commerce, The Nisswa Chamber of Commerce, and the Cuyuna Chamber of Commerce on a full page ad in the state tourism book. Shared ads between Visit Brainerd and the Nisswa Chamber also run in select state specialty magazines.

With the winter season fast approaching, Visit Brainerd, Mount Ski Gull, the Brainerd Lakes Chamber, the Nisswa Chamber, and the Cuyuna Chamber have agreed to combine dollars and efforts in order to better promote the area as Minnesota’s winter playground. Three articles promoting area activities and events will be written and published on the Visit Brainerd blog and the Brainerd Lakes Area mobile App. Those articles will then be promoted through social and digital marketing campaigns in addition to video ad campaigns on YouTube and Facebook.

Richard Polipnick, Executive Director for Visit Brainerd, said, “Each organization shares the same goal of bringing visitors to our great area. It makes sense to find opportunities whenever possible to combine efforts and investments in order to maximize our marketing impact. When we do that all area businesses benefit.”

According to Shawn Hansen, Nisswa Chamber President, “Coordinating marketing efforts between our organizations makes sense. By partnering, we are able to spread our dollars to a bigger audience, and be present in more publications and venues, versus doing it individually. Our goal is to bring people to the Brainerd Lakes Area; we know once they experience it, they will want to come again!”

The winter promotion launched today, January 5th, and runs throughout the month with the intention of maximizing visitor traffic to the Brainerd Lakes Area January through March.
