Our Mission:
Build a group of respite ​homes ​and therapeutic environments​ ​for families and individuals ​living with a disability, mental illness ​or complex ​support ​needs​.

Why am I doing this?
After spending the last 20 years running community safety programs and working for many charities it’s always been a dream to start my own. Having worked with many not for profits and Charities over a 20 year period, I realised that there was a place for a service that focused solely on children with a disability.

My life has been impacted by 2 key events that drove this dream and desire. The first was loosing my youngest sister when I was 10 ‘Rachel’ who was born with Autism (down syndrome) and many other genetic birth defects and sadly she only lived for 2 years. The second was the loss of my partner Phil suddenly to a heart attack 2 years ago.

How did ​​Phil’s Happy Place​ get it’s name​?
In loving memory of Phil Wilson who dedicated the last 6 years of his life to people living with a mental illness and disability.​ ​Phil died suddenly at 47 of a heart attack leaving his son Jozey and​ myself, his Partner of 23 years in disbelief and shock. ​Searching for a light in all the darkness we decided to join forces with a few other passionate people and created this very special plan to build a number of ‘happy places’ in his namesake, which would not only leave a wonderful legacy​,​ but honour his memory for years to come.

About us​
Phil’s Happy Place Not for Profit Charity was created to provide Flexible, Friendly Service offering a home away from home experience for Children and Adults with complex physical or intellectual support needs.

Our Services not only include emergency and crisis Respite both in your own home or in one of our homes, we also provide short or long term, supported accommodation packages for young people and adults who wish to live as independently as possible with access to community services, based on their requirements.

Our Programs offer activities and services for families or individuals and aim to enrich the lives of all those who join our community, our service goal is to create a wonderful, fun and HAPPY experience for our Clients.

Founded by 5 passionate people who after working in the community collectively for more than 20 years saw a need for a more fun, interactive program in a wide range of locations and venues.
