OPEN Houston Stirs the Local Startup Scene with its Business Pitch Competition: Announces Finalists

HOUSTON - Nov. 9, 2015 - PRLog -- Every year, OPEN Houston recognizes innovative startups in the Gulf Coast Region through its Business Pitch Competition and provides a heavily attended forum during its annual conference for these firms to connect with investors, customers, and strategic partners.

The first, second, and third place winners receive direct cash grants of $10,000, $2,500, and $1,000 respectively to use in their businesses with no strings attached.

The 2015 Finalists selected to present at the competition are:

Gray Matter - A wearable technology startup developing an impact sensing sports mouthguard.

NangioTx - A pharmaceutical startup developing formulations for regenerative blood vessel growth (angiogenesis) in chronic peripheral vascular disease.

Open Factory - A 3D Printing company utilizing digital light processing (DLP) projection technology in its light projection based resin printer to make 3D objects.

BAD Labs - A software startup offering plug-in solutions to enhance existing biometric recognition systems.

Ziel Solutions - A developer of wearable devices for reducing the risk of injury from physical activity.

VidiGuard - Autonomous drone technology developers to help businesses with expansive facilities lower the cost of security guarding.

Lumen Motors - Developers of specialty, high-end, electric vehicles with a unique battery technology.

Resthetics – Commercializing their patented solution to recycle fluorinated anesthetics through a process of trapping, storing, and separating anesthetic gases.

EllieGrid - A hardware and software solution to medication management.

Last year’s winners, Wavve, and Luminostics, will also be providing an update on their progress since the competition.

This year’s Grand Prize is being sponsored by Dallas based Capstone Wireless LLC, a leader in mobile device management services for medium to large enterprises.
