BALTIMORE - Nov. 2, 2015 - PRLog -- Project READ is the latest endeavor from Maryland and Monrovia-based nonprofit, Resources and Outreach for Liberia (ROL) whose purpose is to provide educational opportunities for in Liberia.  Project GirlSpire is the first global initiative of this project, whose goal is to highlight the strength and power of a girl's story and voice through literature and journaling.

BALTIMORE-November 02, 2015—Project READ (Restoration Education and Development) is the first program from ROL and will be the starting point for extending opportunities for educational enrichment in Liberia.  Project READ is raising funds and awareness for it's first global social change initiative, Project: GirlSpire (http://projectgirlspire.com/).  Project: GirlSpire is a project and a movement, which focuses on passing empowerment from girl to girl, from nation to nation through encouraging young women and girls to use their voices to create original articles and content.  The Project: GirlSpire website is an online magazine under the guardianship of acclaimed editor, Kelly White (past Executive Editor at Girls' Life Magazine) which takes these voices of hope and innovation and delivers them to the world.  For young women in Liberia, having the opportunity to have their voices heard around the world is both empowering and inspiring, which is why Project: GirlSpire is forging ahead with a crowdfunding project that will put together an anthology of short fiction stories written and donated by female writers that can be used to inspire and empower young girls globally and raise awareness about the struggles that young women around the world face today.

Art as a motivator is ubiquitous,” says GirlSpire spokesperson, Sang Kromah.  “Growing up, reading and writing gave me hope and the audacity to dream, so I wanted to put together the ultimate book with stories told by various unique voices with the hope that one of those voices will inspire and empower a girl to be the best version of herself that she can be.

Project: GirlSpire needs to raise $15,000 to produce this short story anthology for distribution.  The book will not only be a portal of inspiration for girls in Liberia, but also girls all over the world who require a conduit for their hopes and their voice.  “Words are power, they are opportunity and they are an invocation to the Universe,” says Kromah.

“This anthology will tell the young women we work with in our project that they have been heard and they are important.”
