"Early Release" is a story of a disgraced hero searching for redemption.  After a decorated military career, David Saul spirals through an alcoholic crime spree and finds himself in prison.  When a series of massive earthquakes level most of civilization and end society as we know it, David escapes the prison and begins a cross-country trek in search of his estranged wife and daughter.

At the same time, some of the most dangerous criminals in the country are loosed on the countryside and set out to plunder and pillage the neighboring towns.  When David crosses paths with the gang, he must decide if there is any of the old hero left in him, or if he will leave society to the mercy of the monsters it made.

In the end, David fights for his very soul and the redemption that he isn't sure he even believes is possible.
