The AMG Heritage Awards will feature some of the most iconic performers of our time which include stars like, Martha Reeves and the Vandellas (Dancing in the Street), Billy Paul (Me & Mrs Jones), Melanie Safka (I've Got a Brand New Pair of Rollerskates) Schools participating this year are East Elementary, Walter Bickett Elementary, Cuthbertson High School, Sterling Elementary, Pine Lake Preparatory and Rockingham County Middle School. The Artists Music Guild's mission is to work with the schools and give students an opportunity they might not otherwise be afforded. "It's very important to us as performers and community leaders to be able to give back when we have been given so much” said recording star, David L Cook who is also the executive president of the Artists Music Guild. "All of the stars appearing this year have a desire to give back and we are so thankful they are doing it through the Guild." Cook who is a 7 time Emmy Award winning recording artist is thrilled to bring the convention and awards show back to Union County for the second year. Last year's show was hosted by country music star Billy Gilman and famed puppet Lamb Chop. "I had the best time of my life and working with those kids and seeing their faces light up when those cameras came on was sheer happiness to me" stated Billy Gilman. North Carolina Secretary of State, Elaine Marshall will be in attendance to present the Guild and the City of Monroe with a citation for their work in the furtherance of the arts through education. The secretary will be but one dignitary of the evening. The representatives from ECJ Luxe Collection (Diamonds Direct) and Waldan International will be outfitting all of the stars with diamonds and watches from their new ECJ Luxe Collection. Stars will be outfitted with more than 2.5 million dollars in diamonds and watches as they come up the red carpet. Cook said that security has been stepped up by both the Guild and Diamonds Direct to accommodate such a collection. This year there will be programs open to the public throughout the week. On November 11th the Monroe Crossings Mall will be the venue for a complete day of concerts and public appearances. The public will be able to come out and see Bucky Covington and other stars. Concerts will start around 10 am and will run until 5 pm. The concerts are free to the public. November 12th there will be a benefit bonfire concert held at CERA (Carolina Equine Rescue & Assistance) Farms starting at 6:00 pm. Mallory Lewis and Lamb Chop will be there in concert along with several stars. The public is invited and are encouraged to bring their own chairs for seating. Money will be raised for the abused horses and their continued medical needs. People interested in getting involved should contact Darlene Kindle at 704-219-3559. There is no set fee for this concert and Olive Garden is the official sponsor. This will be Bucky Covington's first appearance back in the Carolina's in quite a while. Covington who now calls Nashville his home is so thrilled to come back to his home state. Covington who is originally from Rockingham is inviting all of his hometown people to come out and see him. This years show will be aired into approximately 17 million homes nationwide.
