By: Tracy Kawalik (pushpony.com) Back in 1976 Mark Perry started the first and most famous punk fanzine in music history. Inspired by the Ramones track 'Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue' Perry produced a raw cut and paste, don't give a shit, sellotape masterpiece. Personifying the punk scene and giving the movement a loudly shouting voice. Sniffin' Glue broke onto the scene with a raucous bang. Commanded attention and reached immediate cult status, and then after 12 issues in 1977 left with same immediacy for which it began. With Perry saying goodbye in a final issue accompanied by a flexi disc insert of his debut track 'Love Lies Limp' with new band Alternative TV. The same band who would a year later produce the groundbreaking punk album 'The Image Has Cracked'...release a further 10 albums over the next 4 decades, pack out the most iconic punk venues around the world including New York's CBGB's and Boston's famous Rat Club, play countless festivals, and continually reinvent and evolve not only themselves as a band but what their fans thought they knew of the punk scene. Now after a 14 year break Perry's back. Releasing the bold new album 'Opposing Forces' with ATV and some of his finest work. Not only is the title track brutally strong but the entirety of the album wildly ferocious, filled with experimental arrangements, profound lyrics and the slick talent that's continually won Alternative TV the fans, respect and praise they so deserve.
