DENVER - Sept. 3, 2015 - PRLog -- The Institute of Classical Architecture and Art Rocky Mountain Chapter (ICAA RMC) will honor Daniel L. Ritchie with The Clinton Family Fund Medal at the Newman Awards ceremony on September 15, 2015.

The award honors those who exemplify the ideas of the ICAA and who foster the continuity of knowledge of the classical tradition in support of the arts in the Rocky Mountain region. The award is named in honor of the cornerstone founders of the Rocky Mountain Chapter, Bruce and Martha Clinton, whose support of varied artistic endeavors epitomize commitment to the community. Mr. Ritchie was selected to receive the medal for the advancements and opportunities he has helped make possible in the arts and education in communities throughout Colorado.

“True to the mission of The Clinton Family Fund Medal, Daniel Ritchie has forged a remarkable legacy leading organizations focused on education and the arts,” said Don Ruggles, AIA, NCARB, ICAA, founder and past-president of the ICAA RMC. “Notably, his leadership of the University of Denver and the Denver Center for the Performing Arts has resulted in forward thinking programs that will influence our region for years to come.  It is a privilege to have a person of such esteemed virtue as part of our community.”

Currently Chairman of The Denver Center for the Performing Arts, and previously Chief Executive Officer from January 2007 until May 2015, Mr. Ritchie served as the 16th Chancellor of the University of Denver (DU) from 1989 to 2005. He was Chairman of the Board of the DU from 2005 to 2007, and first became involved with the university in 1983 when he became a trustee. In his 24 years of involvement with DU, the school steadily gained stature and strengthened academic programs. Ritchie currently serves as President of the Temple Hoyne Buell Foundation, which focuses on early childhood education and development, and has served as Chairman of the Board of the Daniels Fund, which supports programs that encourage personal responsibility and achievement by funding college scholarships and community programs.

Mr. Ritchie joins the esteemed company of past recipients of The Clinton Family Fund Medal including Dana Crawford, Denver developer and urban preservationist, and Frederic C. Hamilton, entrepreneur and art enthusiast. For more information on Mr. Ritchie’s award recognition at the 2015 Newman Awards, please visit http://classicist-rmc.org/newman-awards-2015/.
