Webcor Launches Home Solar Program to help Employees, Family, and Friends save on Solar

Webcor Promotes Carbon Neutral Living at Home through Solar Discount

SAN FRANCISCO - Aug. 31, 2015 - PRLog -- Webcor Builders (Webcor), one of the largest general contractors in California, and rated the nation’s #1 Green Builder by Engineering News Record (ENR) Magazine in 2014, is offering its employees, their family, and friends a solar group purchase (bulk-buy) program called SunShares. The program allows participants to choose between two solar installers who are offering substantial discounts on home installations in Northern and Central California.

Webcor partnered with the Business Council on Climate Change (BC3) and Vote Solar on program launch. The goal of the SunShares program is to make residential solar power more affordable for homeowners. These discounts are possible through pooling the purchasing power of several large corporate organizations who are members of BC3.

“We [Webcor] are always looking to bring unique and innovative opportunities to benefit our employees, which is why this solar program caught our interest,” said Jes Pedersen, President/CEO of Webcor. “Giving our employees the option to make their homes better for the environment is right in line with our mission of being a sustainably conscious builder. It’s important we integrate sustainability at the project level, while also providing environmentally conscious opportunities for the communities and homes we live in.”

Two solar installers are participating: Skytech Solar, a smaller yet experienced firm headquartered in San Francisco; and Sunrun, one of the largest and oldest solar companies in the U.S. Together they are providing service throughout Central and Northern California. Both companies are covering solar permit fees required for installation by local governments.

The starting cost for a turnkey solar installation is $3.50 per watt, and goes up based on the installer, system size, and any structural adders, dependent on individual homes. This is a 15% discount off the market rate installation cost.

Financing options for participants include cash, loans or power purchase agreements. Another financing tool is available from various cities and counties throughout California called Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE). PACE enables program participants to apply the cost of their energy upgrades to their property tax bill.

The discounted program pricing available is being offered August 1st through October 23rd of this year.
