DETROIT - Aug. 30, 2015 - PRLog -- Happy’s Pizza is teaming up with Elevate Detroit to feed approximately 200 of Detroit’s homeless men, women, and children on Saturday September 5, 2015, in honor of National Cheese Pizza Day. The cookout event will be held at 3000 Fort Street in Detroit at 1:00 p.m..

“We thought, instead of creating a special offer to celebrate National Cheese Pizza Day, let’s do something meaningful for people in the community we’ve been a part of for 19 years,” said Happy’s Pizza CEO John Moran. “There are people in Detroit struggling to find shelter and food. If we can provide a meal, a smile, and some encouragement to someone in need…it’s a good day for all of us.”

Happy’s will deliver over 2,000 slices of pizza, along with pop, bottled water, plates, napkins, and volunteer support to the new Elevate Detroit “CommuniD BBQ” Pavilion in Detroit’s Cass Corridor on September 5th.

Elevate Detroit, a Michigan non-profit network comprised of volunteers from local churches and Metro Detroit residents, has been providing food and friendship to needy Detroiters for nearly eight years. Happy’s Pizza decided to partner with Elevate Detroit for this event based on their efforts to make a difference in Detroit with the “CommuniD BBQ” program designed to not only feed Detroit’s homeless and hungry, but to connect people and build meaningful relationships in a community atmosphere.

“I’m very excited to work with Happy’s on the September 5th CommuniD BBQ,” said Mike Schmitt, Director of Elevate Detroit, “and very thankful for their generous donation and continued support. Coming together with local businesses like Happy’s Pizza to share a meal and bring people in the community closer together is what Elevate Detroit is all about.”

“Happy’s Pizza is an organization that prides itself on being one, big, happy family”, said Moran, “after working with Elevate Detroit and participating in this event, I have a feeling our family is going to get a little bit bigger.”

Happy’s Pizza has also committed to donating 50 pizzas a month to Elevate Detroit every month for the next year, making sure they always have access to food, especially during the cold winter months ahead.

Happy’s Pizza offers over 200 menu items ranging from pizza to salads, chicken, ribs and seafood. Happy’s is best known for having pricing that allows a family to eat dinner for under $15.00 and deliver within a 5 mile radius of the store.
