BROOMFIELD, Colo. - Aug. 25, 2015 - PRLog -- A new non-profit New Folks Home outside of Boulder, Colorado is opening its doors to help senior citizens locate and select retirement communities to help find the best fit for their current needs.  The secondary purpose is for a low scorecard community to improve the level of care and services to their current residents already residing in their communities. The concept of New Folks Home was developed by former managers and directors of large, small and independent Senior Citizen Retirement Corporations that provide deep insight into the senior citizen retirement communities.

Over the last year the directors of New Folks Home have developed a scorecard system to grade retirement communities as well as finding the necessary initial funding of over $400,000 from gracious donors and investors when New Folks Home plans to opens its doors for business In September 2015 once the final application for the 501c3 is completed and approved.

Todd Wessels the Managing Director explains, "After being employed by one of the largest senior living corporations I was privileged enough to witness really two types of communities and usually each could be found within the same company.  There are a lot of great communities as well as a lot of bad communities.    One day I was asked the question of how would a senior that is looking to move into a retirement community be able to differentiate the difference between a good community and a bad community? Nine times out of ten seniors cannot make the connection and differentiate between the two.  In fact senior’s that don’t have any information prior to touring a retirement community have a better chance of signing an agreement with a bad community versus that of a good community.   This is because typically retirement corporations will bring in their bestselling managers to struggling communities to improve profits.”

According to Todd Wessels Managing Director of New Folks Home since seniors do not have the inside information prior to touring a community as to the actual workings of the retirement communities. This makes it difficult to distinguish between a good communities versus a community that may not be so good. This is exactly why New Folks Home devised a scorecard system so that when a senior does conduct a tour of a community that they are touring the best communities possible in the least amount of time.  The scoring system provides unbiased assessment of a community which is based on over 300 areas of evaluation.  These areas are broken down into four categories: resident’s financial obligations to the retirement community, the community itself, community management and staff including upper management, and lastly current resident satisfaction.  So for example in financial obligations category of the scorecard grades the following areas: deposits or community fee obligations, annual rent increase percentages. The community section of the scorecard would include things like: how modern is the community, last time there was improvements (paint or carpet) to the community.

Everyone wants to know what the difference is between New Folks Home and free services provided by companies like A Place for Mom.  When a senior hires New Folks they are represented directly by them, this removes any chance that New Folks Home can possibly be biased to a community or corporation for the collection of commissions like free services do. New Folks Home evaluates each potential resident to help seniors be properly placed in the correct level of care.  Lastly it allows the senior to be educated on how to negotiate the best deals such as lower monthly costs, reduced or removed deposits as well as negotiated yearly rent increases.  Since free service referral companies are hired by the community and corporations, and are paid on a commission. Seniors rarely receive any information on the thousands of dollars that they could be saving due to the fact it reduces the amount of commissions they the free company would be paid.

The introductory price of $195 from New Folks Home is simply an amazing offer for anyone that is considering to move into a retirement community.  With all the services that are provided along with the peace of mind of knowing that a community been completely evaluated along with the savings that New Folks provides should provide a valuable service to seniors .  As a non-profit financial assistance is available to any senior that qualifies for free or reduced cost services that are provided by New Folks Home.

Within five years New Folks Home hopes to provide other services to seniors to include such things as: senior legal assistance for government programs like VA and Social Security, retirement benefits assistance, downsizing assistance, discounted realtor rates, financial assistance for home care provider selection and services.
