Zachary Tinkle Clinches Illinois Super Cup State Championship Title in Short Track Auto Racing Series (STARS)

CHICAGO - Aug. 10, 2015 - PRLog -- Immediately after driver introductions, drivers hopped into their super cup cars for the 20-lap feature race at Grundy County Speedway on August 1, 2015. This was no ordinary Saturday night race. It was also the 2015 Short Track Auto Racing Series (STARS) Illinois State Super Cup Championship Race

Zachary Tinkle started out in the third position behind the pole sitter. Soon after green, Tinkle passed the first two cars to become the lap leader. He was passed on the next lap and remained in second position until the first car wrecked into a slower rookie car that had spun out in turn four during lap 11.

Officials first called a caution after the incident then immediately went to a red flag stop on the field. This skirmish put Tinkle in the first position for the restart with 8 laps to go. While the cars behind him battled it out for position, Tinkle maintained the top spot — getting him his first feature race win as a super cup driver and declaring him the 2015 Short Track Auto Racing Series (STARS) Illinois State Super Cup Champion.
