Follow on Google News | Sweet Dreamzzz will find their way to Arkansas in the fallKIPP Delta Preschool (Helena, Arkansas) will be receiving Sweet Dreamzzz Early Childhood Sleep Education Program™ (ECSEP) in the fall of 2015. This program will serve 48 students ranging in age from 3-5 years old and 5-6 teachers. “We welcome KIPP Delta Preschool to our Sweet Dreamzzz family,” says Ann Raftery, Director of Sleep Programs for Sweet Dreamzzz. “They are now trained in our early childhood curriculum and Parent Sleep Education Program and we look forward to hearing about their success when they roll out the program in the fall.” The teacher training for this program is already completed. In early June, Raftery traveled to Arkansas to present the Sweet Dreamzzz Train the Trainer (T3) seminar and Teacher Workshop. The T3 seminar trains the preschool staff to deliver the Sweet Dreamzzz Parent Sleep Education Workshop™ (PSEW), equipping the center to deliver the PSEW to their parent groups independently for years to come. One parent who attended the PSEW said, “The workshop was very informative and I am happy that I came. The instructions for bedtime were very clear.” Additionally, the Teacher Workshop was presented to teach early childhood instructors how the Sweet Dreamzzz ECSEP works and set them up with the supplies they will need to introduce it in the classroom, including: a teacher guide, classroom presentation kit, and classroom posters. “I am so thrilled we found Sweet Dreamzzz,” said Cortneigh Colburn, KIPP’s Preschool Director. “I have high hopes for the impact this could have on the families in our community.” The Early Childhood Sleep Education Program is a two-week, in-school program that includes classroom enrichment activities and a sleep kit. The structure behind this program helps preschoolers, their parents, and their teachers work together to ensure these children are getting the sleep necessary to learn effectively. In addition to Arkansas, Sweet Dreamzzz has already served families in Washington, D.C., and Massachusetts. The organization will be delivering another program this fall in New York City as part of a research grant. Founded in 1998, Sweet Dreamzzz™, Inc., is a nonprofit organization committed to improving children’s health, well-being and academic performance by providing sleep education and bedtime essentials to economically disadvantaged students and their families.
