Well researched and well written, author Mary D. Brooks brings an entertaining same-sex love story with paranormalinfluences to the limelight. The author brings the 1950’s alive through her writing and you will be able to see, hear and feel the environment the characters exist in. The author’s prose and dialogues are simple and are what you would use in your everyday life but even then she manages to capture even the smallest of life moments with her keen observance. The lesbianism in the story is merely a part of the character’s identity and not what defines them to the world. The writer has also not presented all gay people as oppressed and noble and straight people as their tormentors.
