The inaugural event will take place from 8:30am until 4:30pm with its primary aim to relate the importance of self-care for moms. The conference will feature keynote speakers from the Atlanta area, Egypt Sherrod of HGTV’s Property Virgins, Toni Carey, co-founder of Black Girls Run!, Tacoma Perry, former Fox 5 News Correspondent, and Tracy Nicole, local business woman and motivational speaker among others. “Moms typically put themselves last,” says Canteen-Harbor. “We take incredible care of our families and yet hesitate when it comes to taking care of ourselves. I’d like to challenge that notion.” The idea behind work-life balance has fueled many-heated discussions in the media over the past year. Canteen-Harbor feels confident that the conference will contribute significantly to this discourse, causing women to rethink the possibilities of their own lives as a result. “We have an incredible wealth of knowledge right here in Atlanta,” she says of the speakers. “Our speakers are accomplished women, amazing in their own way with incredible stories and they’re all moms.” Sponsorship opportunities for the conference are still available. About Women Making A Mark Award from Atlanta Magazine The Women Making A Mark program recognizes and celebrates Atlanta women who are positively shaping the city.
