Follow on Google News | Dream On Festival Returns to Pittsburgh July 4th WeekendThe second annual DreamOn Festival returns to Market Square with a 3-day lineup of multi-genre live concerts, ice cream and community dance parties with a focus on diversity and youth empowerment.
By: DreamOn Festival After an outstanding premiere in 2014 of over 20,000 attendees, $10,000 raised to support local causes, and an appearance by Mayor Chris Portman, the DreamOn Festival (www.DreamOnFest.com) The festival features performances by DJ Nate da Barber; Anqwenique; Dan Bubien; Jasmine Tate; the Chop Shop; CMU Bhangra; DJ Selecta; Karl Franklin; Beauty Slap; Brydge; Noel Quintana & the Latin Crew; My Thai Dance Troupe; 412tuned; Telavision, Mic Blaque and more! Pittsburgh natives model and actress Tunisha Hubbard and comedian J. Russ are confirmed to host the Festival along with Omicelo founder and CEO Joshua Pollard. Pittsburgh’s own Emmy-award winning filmmaker, Emmai Alaquiva, of Ya Momz House. This year, the festival has adopted a “pay-it-forward” The DreamOn Festival will also host a variety of vendors, including PGH Party Creations, Gold’s Gym, State Farm and food by PGH Halal Truck and PGH Crepes. Sponsors for the event include BMe Community; University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC); UPMC Health Plan; Kadesh Capital; Paper, Cotton, Ink; RentRef; T-Mobile; My Thai and The Savoy and event partner Lyft. New Lyft customers are eligible for a free ride (up to $20) when using the code DREAMONFEST2015 now through December 31, 2015. Also, confirmed to speak at the DreamOn Festival are Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald (Friday, July 3rd at 6pm) and Allegheny County Controller Chelsa Wagner (Saturday, July 4th at 6pm). All musical performances and ice cream sales will take place in Market Square. The festival is open and free to the public.
