KINGSTON, Mass. - June 2, 2015 - PRLog -- Sacred Heart School (www.sacredheartkingston.com), a private, Catholic, co-educational school for students in preschool through grade 12, proudly announces that eighth grade student Olivia Colombo of Kingston, Massachusetts, has been named one of the top 30 students in the national ProjectCSGirls Middle School Computer Science Contest.

ProjectCSGirls is a non-profit organization aimed to cultivate a love for technology and computer science in girls and encourage them to pursue their interests and careers in these fields. The competition featured projects from around the country designed by girls to actively use computer science and technology to develop a solution to an imminent social problem.

Colombo’s entry, “The Green Highway Project,” demonstrates how highways can be utilized as a new source of renewable energy.

She will travel to Washington, D.C., later this summer to attend the annual ProjectCSGirls Gala.

“What a remarkable achievement for Olivia,” said Pamela Desmarais, President of Sacred Heart School. “The entire school couldn’t be more proud of her – we can’t wait to see what Olivia will do next!”
