Roshni Media Group’ Hosts the Inspirational Achiever Awards on 29th May, 2015

NEW YORK - May 26, 2015 - PRLog -- Roshni Media Group known for its award-winning coffee table books recognizing the successful journeys of inspiring South Asians, is hosting its first-ever Diverse Inspirational Achiever Awards Gala in New York, on May 29th, 2015. This red carpet event with a Bohemian inspired fashion show and a dedicated networking hour, will be brought to the public in partnership with the New York Consul General, at the prestigious Taj Pierre Hotel.

Mani Kamboj and Dr. Rashmee Sharma, Co-owners of the Roshni Media Group, have put in 6months of herculean effort and dedication to make this spectacular event a reality. They bring the first of its kind Awards Gala with honorees and celebrities like Abhay Deol, Jay Sean, Mira Nair, Pooja Batra among many others.

“It is so fulfilling when stalwarts like Mr. Ajay Banga (CEO of MasterCard and award honoree 2015), praise our efforts. Dr. Rashmee Sharma, the brains behind the Roshni idea, has been capturing stories of Indians from diverse walks of life. With honourees like (author) Dr. Deepak Chopra, (film maker) Mira Nair, (CEO Ethan Allen) Farooq Kathwari and many others, she has now successfully published her 3^rd book in the ‘Roshni – the light of South Asia’ series.

“These first ever awards will bring together world citizens to the same platform, and shall truly mark the anniversary of my initiative, honouring and celebrating success. We want to recognize the achievers publicly for their contributions, as part of our mission to create global diversity awareness,” Dr. Sharma said. “It is my hope, via Roshni, to build a bridge to communicate pride, strength and sacrifice of the first generation immigrants. I want to focus on enlightening and making younger generations proud of our heritage and culture. The Indian community is doing tremendously well, and that needs to be documented and brought forth to the world,” she added.

Kamesh Nagarajan, Sr. VP, Morgan Stanley, who is also one of the many esteemed honorees for the May 2015 awards said, “It’s great to be recognized for your passion, community, professional success; but this is not just recognition, it’s commemorating a journey – not just my own, but one that my father started in 1962, with a 22 day boat trip to his ‘American Dream’.”

About Rashmee Sharma: Dr. Rashmee Sharma moved to United States from India, in the late 1980s, to pursue her Ph.D. She later taught English Literature at a University in Washington State, during which time the idea for the Roshni book series was born. Dr. Sharma is passionate to elevate the profile of people of Indian origin in the Americas and supplement for the lack of any documentation of the stellar achievements and successes of first and second generation Indians across the globe.
