LOS ANGELES - May 20, 2015 - PRLog -- The International Carwash Assn (ICA) inducted Thomas Ennis, founder of Inglewood-based NS Wash Systems, into the Hall of Fame during its annual conference in Las Vegas last month.

According to Eric Wulf, CEO of the International Carwash Association, "Over the past 52 years, Ennis has created innovative systems that deliver among the most safe, maintenance free and thorough washes in the industry. Ennis has patented 60 cutting edge technologies and continues to look for new ways to improve the car wash business."

"This is a great honor for me, my family and my employees," Ennis told the audience.  "For six decades, I have been proud to be part of this industry.  I love washing cars!"  Ennis attended his first ICA show in 1963 and he hasn't missed one yet, including exhibiting every year since 1967.

Ennis started washing cars at the age of 12 and purchased his first car wash on a handshake, when he was only 20.  That same year, in 1962, he built a new conveyor system for the wash.

If necessity is the mother of invention, then Ennis is the father of the modern car wash!

At 24, he revolutionized the car wash with the development of the wrap-around brush.  By the time he opened a second factory on the west coast in 1972, he was already building a full line of car wash equipment.

Over the years, he has continued to bring innovation to the industry proving that you can build a better mouse trap.  Some of his more noteworthy inventions include The Bubbilizer, above-ground clarifier, double wrap-around brush, and the above-ground water reclamation system.

Always looking for ways to test new technologies, Ennis purchased the El Segundo Car Wash to show that NS equipment could wash 200 cars per hour.  Today, NS Wash Systems, located in cities and towns across the country and throughout the world, are washing millions of cars, SUVs, buses, trucks and trains.

But Ennis, with his enthusiasm for car washing is not done yet.  To bring back the fun of going to the car wash, and call attention to the serious, environmental side of the business, too, Ennis and partner Patricia Knott created the Green Forest Car Wash, offering guests a ride through a rain forest, Jurassic Park and, opening later this year, a trip Under the Sea!
