Rotary Club of Flagler Beach Receives Two District Awards

PALM COAST, Fla. - May 17, 2015 - PRLog -- The Rotary Club of Flagler Beach is pleased to announce that they were awarded the Presidential Citation and Platinum Premier Club awards out of 61 clubs at the Rotary District 6970 conference last week.

“We couldn’t be more pleased with the hard work and passion our club members continue to put into our club,” said incoming club president Kathy Somers, “We are certainly an active club and all of our members do their part to make this an outstanding club,” she added.

The club has been busy this year. They just finished their Cycle Flagler event on May 3rd that drew 375 cyclists to the area and raised $10,000 to help feed families and provide scholarships to area students. On April 21st at Flagler Schools Scholarship Night, the club presented four scholarships in the amount of $1,000 to FPC and Matanzas High School students.

The Club also received The United Way of Volusia Flagler’s ‘Service Club Volunteer of the Year Award’ on April 23rd at the United Way’s Outstanding Volunteers of the Year Awards Luncheon.

The Rotary Club of Flagler Beach is a service club that raises funds for local scholarships for adults and students, Project Share which provides holiday gifts and food for needy families, Flagler County Education Foundation, world-wide polio eradication, and a local project building multipurpose fields in Bunnell just to name a few.

About the Rotary Club of Flagler Beach:  The Rotary Club of Flagler Beach was chartered in November 1991 and currently has 32 members; we are part of Rotary District 6970.

Our membership is a most compatible group of local business and community leaders from the fields of business, law, education, real estate, and government; including those who have retired from successful pursuits in these fields. During the winter, our attendance swells with the coming of our Snow-Birds. All are welcome, of course, and are included in all our social and civic activities. Our Program Speakers typically address a variety of interesting and important topics.
