Visual Paradigm Announces: Version 12.1 Released

April 28, 2015 - PRLog -- Visual Paradigm supports software design with modeling languages like UML, SysML, BPMN, ERD, DFD, etc. It also comes along with code engineering, database engineering, hibernate, wireframe, etc. Version 12.1 of Visual Paradigm introduces 6 major new features, more than 24 small features and enhancements. The following lists out a summary of the new and enhanced features.

New Features

- New Doc. Composer
Integrate model data into your project documentations and reports
Embed diagrams and model specification into your project documentations and reports with the use of simple query statements.

Simplified Doc. Composer template language -
Similar template elements are combined into ones, and new elements are introduced to help you write professional documents with a much simpler and cleaner template structure.

Configurable loop block that ease data retrieval in Doc. Composer
Create document with loop blocks, which helps you retrieve elements more efficiently in a diagram, and print their properties with dedicated templates on-the-fly.

- UI re-design with wireframe
Quickly produce sample screen design that aids the confirmation of user requests. Use the Smart Edit feature to take a screenshot from the current screen, and then make ad-hoc changes like repositioning screen components, reset component types and add new components.

- Revamped PostMania
PostMania has been revamped with a fresh new look. Which improves your experience in diagram sharing and discussion.

- Active Directory authentication for VPository users
DS Connector is introduced as a bridge between VPository and your local Active Directory (or other directory services), which allows you to authenticate VPository with the credentials stored in Active Directory.

- Reference Mapping
Visualize and manage the references between your design and artifacts like model data, external folder, file and URL, with the help of the Reference Mapping editor.

- Storyboard-like storyboard
The storyboard feature has been revamped with a new storyboard-like design, which improves the storyboard content previews and to make it possible to view wireframe description.

Enhanced Features

- Generate DB from ERD for specific schema
Supported the selection of schema to generate database in the Generate Database window.

- Delete project revisions in VPository
Administrator of VPository or Teamwork Server can now delete project revisions.

- Supported description, stereotype and tagged values in wireframe widgets
Add description to wireframe widgets. Extend the meaning with the use of stereotypes and tagged values.

- Revamped "New Diagram" window
The "New Diagram" window has been revamped to support searching of diagram type.

- Member-wide formatting
Set formatting properties for class attribute/members and entity columns.

- Reminded for committing changes when exiting
Prompt for saving/committing changes when exiting Visual Paradigm.

- Changing subscribed product edition
Easily switch to subscribe another edition.

- Gen DDL with bitmap index
Supported specifying bitmap index under the Index specification window, as well as the generation of bitmap index to DDL.

- Indicated duplicated rules in Decision Table
When two (or more) rules in a Decision Table has same conditions, you will see an exclamation mark at the top rule for indicating such a conflict.

- Better indication of collapsed Mind Map nodes
Indicate collapsed nodes in Mind Map diagram by showing the Expand resource icon next to them.

- Sharing PostMania diagram with URL
To share a diagram with an existing viewer, instead of sending him/her an invitation email, you can now give him or her the URL of that diagram, to let him/her to open the diagram directly on the web browser.

- Commit changes of design patterns to server through setting permission
New permission has been added to restrict the committing of design patterns to server. VPository/Teamwork Server administrator can configure the permission by logging into the server in web.

- Delete design patterns synchronized to server
Users can delete obsolete design patterns stored in server.

- Support closing project
Added Close Project button in the File toolbar.

- Supported tabbed pane and date picker for Web wireframe
You can now create tagged pane and date picker in your web wireframe.

- Not to show format toolbar until focusing on description editor
To save space, the format toolbar of description will be shown only when you click inside the editor. Note that this change only affects description edition in specification window.

- Auto. name REST request and response class in creation
When you create request or response shape from REST resource, the request and response class will be automatically named based on the REST resource.

- Added Gen. Data Specification button in ERD action bar
Quickly generate data specification by clicking on the button in ERD's action bar.

- Better hotkey support
  - Supported switching active diagram with Ctrl-Tab or Ctrl-Shift-Tab
   - Supported closing active diagram with Ctrl-W or Ctrl-F4
  - Create new diagram with Ctrl-N
  - Select all members in class and entity with Alt-A

- Drag description pane's title bar to make it float
If you want to make a description pane floated, instead of clicking any button, simply drag its title bar.
