CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - April 22, 2015 - PRLog -- Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine (http://www.blueridgeoutdoors.com), the definitive guide to outdoor sports, health, and adventure travel in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic, gives back to the outdoors by becoming the newest member of The Conservation Alliance (mailto:http://www.conservationalliance.com/).

The newly announced partnership supports The Conservation Alliance’s mission to protect and preserve North America’s last wild spaces. With the help of Alliance supporters, the organization has helped protect 44 million acres, 2,945 river miles, removed or halted 26 dams, purchased 10 climbing areas and designated five marine reserves.

“Protecting the places where we play has always been central to our mission,” says Will Harlan, Editor in Chief of Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine. “All of us—especially our readers—hunger for the wild. We seek out ancient mountains, pristine rivers, and old-growth forests. The Conservation Alliance has been the country's leading voice in safeguarding these wild places, which are critical to the long-term health of the Blue Ridge – both ecologically and economically. Wild places provide clean air and water, preserve scenic views, and offer oases of adventure. The wild mountains of Southern Appalachia shelter hundreds of rare species—and provide refuge and renewal for us, too.”

“Brining Blue Ridge Outdoors on board as a Conservation Alliance member represents a commitment to protecting the places so treasured by their readers and the recreationalists of the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic,” says John Sterling, Executive Director of The Conservation Alliance. “We are thrilled be working with a publication with shared values and a voice to amplify the message of the Alliance.”
