Goodwill Announces Annual Breakthrough Awards

Event honors local businesses and individuals in the Southwest Florida Community

FORT MYERS, Fla. - April 15, 2015 - PRLog -- Five remarkable individuals and businesses will be honored Thursday, May 7 at Goodwill’s Breakthrough Awards. The event will be held at the Goodwill Opportunity Center (5100 Tice Street, Fort Myers). The annual event is a celebration of the nonprofit agency’s top achievers, and supporters in the community.

“This event is a great way for us to say ‘thank you’ to the people who are involved in our programs and who support the Goodwill mission,” says Madison Mitchell, spokesperson for Goodwill. “Goodwill assists people in our community with disabilities and disadvantages; the Breakthrough Awards really highlights those involved in that.”

This year, the event features a new format and venue which will highlight the organization’s many programs and services.

“The first part of the evening will be done in almost an open house type style,” says Mitchell. “Each of our programs will be doing something special throughout our headquarters to showcase their past achievements and their future goals.”

Highlighted programs include the Goodwill L.I.F.E. Academy, a tuition free charter school for students with developmental disabilities, High School High Tech, a career exploration program for high school students, and the Mobile Job-Link, a modified RV that brings employment services to areas where transportation is a major barrier. There will also be a Goodwill fashion show, featuring a variety of outfits to fit every style.

Dog biscuits and other items created by Goodwill program participants will also be available to purchase.

Tickets to the Goodwill Breakthrough Awards Luncheon are just $50 per person.  To RSVP visit www.goodwillswfl.org/RSVPbreakthrough or call Madison Mitchell at (239) 995-2106 ext. 2213.  Sponsorships are available. The event starts at 5:00p.m.
