DAVENPORT, Fla. - March 26, 2015 - PRLog -- Central Florida may be best known for its world-class theme-parks and attractions, but it is increasingly becoming a centre for eCommerce and other industry.

For instance, delivery company FedEx is building a 300,000 square feet center in Davenport so it can work with the million-square-foot fulfilment center Amazon completed last year in Lakeland.

"If there's an e-commerce business that's getting placed in the state of Florida, it's getting placed in Central Florida because of its interface of interstate highways and access to the entire state. Virtually every single user is looking for a hub in Central Florida, Jared Bonshire of the commercial-real-estate firm Cushman & Wakefield, told the Orlando Sentinel (http://www.orlandosentinel.com/business/os-orlando-ecommerce-disruption-20150217-story.html).

Among other big-name companies rumoured to be interested in expanding in the region is top supermarket chain Wal-Mart.

Another firm moving into the city is the Red Lobster that has just opened a support centre in Downtown Orlando, the first in the restaurant and hospitality sector, staffed by around 300 employees.

And with the strength of the region’s established aerospace industry, including global aerospace, defense, security and advanced technology company, Lockheed Martin, which employs around 10,000 people in Central Florida it’s no wonder that the Sunshine State’s employment total is rising.

The number of online job openings in Florida reached an all-time high in February 2015 with a total of 292,249 seasonally adjusted openings, according to data from The Conference Board’s Help Wanted OnLine.

Garrett Kenny, Chief Executive Officer of top Central Florida developer and agent, the Feltrim Group, which has an office in Davenport, says, “With big firms moving into Central Florida we are seeing extra demand for real estate and rising employment security, which is good news for all.

“It also provides added confidence for real estate investors who add it to the long list of reasons why buying property in and around Central Florida is a wise step.”

Florida’s consumer sentiment index also rose in February 2015 to 94.7, up from 93.1 the month before, the seventh consecutive monthly rise and the highest since November 2006.

State Governor Rick Scott says Florida aims to be the top US state for new jobs. “Every new job represents an opportunity to achieve the dream of America, and this record high job demand is great news for Florida families. Florida is on a mission to beat Texas as the number one state for job creation and today’s news puts us closer to that goal. We will keep working every day to build an environment that encourages growth so Florida can become the global destination for jobs.”
