Goodie Innovation In Partnership with the United Negro College Fund – March 28

In partnership with the United Negro College Fund, Goodie Innovation, Student Edition will  engage seventy (70+) Atlanta Metro college students, high school juniors and seniors to empower them through  innovation and social entrepreneurship to develop tech-enabled social enterprises that will impact Atlanta's under-served communities.  Students will form teams and generate solutions from which the top ideas will move onto the HBCU I.C.E. Hackathon, where their tech products will be built by African-American computer science students.

WHY?:  We believe the next generation is invested in solving the problems of the communities. While the Civil Rights Movement and Affirmative Action focused on giving minority communities access to the  “chess board” in our society, Closing the Digital Divide and empowering our own keeps us playing chess at the table.

The UNCF and its partners including the Association for Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU), the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities have launched the HBCU Innovation, Commercialization and Entrepreneurship Initiative (or HBCU ICE) as a social enterprise platform that will address the STEM pipeline and skills gap across tech-industry sectors.   The HBCU Student Tech-Empowerment Week and the ICE Hackathon Series are programs of HBCU ICE and seek to engage and empower the next generation youth on and around our campuses through innovation and entrepreneurship.
