ELK GROVE, Calif. - March 13, 2015 - PRLog -- This is the title of an article that came out on MarketWatch on Friday the 9th. Energy companies are expected to be hit my massive drops in earnings this coming reporting session which could put massive pressure on the overall market. These drops might provide opportunities to pick up some of these beaten stocks at sharp discounts.

These reports will be coming out at the end of January and the beginning of February which might shake day to day investors as companies announce measures to maintain profits, like layoffs, cutting expenses, and postponing investments. Many companies are planning to cut their expenses more than 20% which could have lasting impacts throughout the year.

The world is swimming in oil and OPEC has made no indication of cutting production. This could put pressure on the sector and overall market indexes. However, the drops we have seen in oil prices could help some companies.

Last week I wrote,
A counter intuitive event is also hitting the market, an increasing dollar. Most consumers love the idea of a strong dollar, however it brings it's own risks and the market is taking note. U.S. companies that do business overseas and those sales are recorded in that countries weaker currency are virtually selling them at a discount. Commodities are in focus and continuing to drop. A stronger dollar gives more commodity for the buck which drives the price down. This will affect mining, gem prices, oil companies, and farming.

As investors it is important to make sure you have a decent understanding of some of these trends opposing your life's savings. It is just as important to make sure you understand these factors to question your advisor to guarantee they are on top of these issues.
