Nautical Decor Store Revamps Its Shipping Process in Innovative Way to Save Customers Money

Nautical Decor Store is revamping its packaging process in an effort to offer its customers free shipping by 2015's halfway point through innovative ways.

WENATCHEE, Wash. - March 9, 2015 - PRLog -- In an effort to lower costs to its customers and lessen its impact on the environment, Nautical Decor Store, an online retailer of nautical decor, is revamping and upgrading its shipping department procedures in innovative, new ways.

"We just contracted with a local glassware receiving company, for us to obtain large quantities of pristine quality foam 'peanuts' that come in two different sizes and densities," says Scott Tucker, Owner of the Nautical Decor Store. "The denser variety is perfect for 'floating' large, heavy, yet fragile items, like our popular 24" wooden porthole mirrors."

These smaller, less dense pieces of foam are perfect for shipping lightweight items in that they provide a surprising amount of protection in a cost-efficient way. The Nautical Decor Store considers each and every piece of nautical decor it ships fragile, as the products get handled by multiple people in multiple facilities, some of whom may be less than careful when handling them. Using these pieces of foam allows Nautical Decor Store to package their products in the safest way possible to guard against any accidents from happening.

"I've visited our local UPS and USPS package handling centers and see exactly what goes on in the process, and sometimes it's NOT pretty!" Tucker explains. "We have to safeguard against all the ways packages can receive damage right here in our originating warehouse, all the while saving the associated glassware company from filling up their dumpsters and our local landfill with these beautiful packing materials. We're going greener and giving them at least one more leg to their useful lifespan."

Most important of all, the Nautical Decor Store is doing all of this in a sweeping effort to save their customers money.

"Our shipping goal is to offer our customers free shipping in checkout midway through 2015," notes Tucker. "So instead of just adding all the normal shipping/handling costs onto the price of what they purchase, we are attacking it from the opposite end first, and devising means to reduce our cost of shipping to the barest minimum, while preserving our very low rate of damage claims."
