In November house prices continued their growth building on months of appreciation and increased confidence in the housing market. Home prices notched an increase of over 5% annual rolling growth but the number could could drop if energy prices hit major energy economies such as North Dakota.

Energy is not the only factor putting it's full weight on home values. As people jump on the band wagon putting their home up fro sale price increases are starting to slow. Increased inventory, leveling prices, and the massive gap from 2007 home prices and 2015 home prices all make an argument that a housing purchase might not be a bad decision for some investors or home buyers.

When looking at an investment/rental home or a new home upgrade you must consider your local region and how these national numbers apply to your region. Another consideration is home equity, if prices are flattening out it may take years for good equity to build.
