SAN MATEO, Calif. - Feb. 4, 2015 - PRLog -- MONEY AND STRESS IN AMERICA...AND A SONG THAT WILL RESONATE WITH ANYONE WHO IS STRESSED ABOUT MONEY...A SONG ABOUT MONEY CALLED “BIG BUCKS”

According to a press release issued by the American Psychological Association about their survey about stress in America, the survey showed that “money continues to be a top cause of stress for Americans.”

The report is entitled “Stress in America: Paying With Our Health,” and you can see the press release about it online.

“In a world where a lot of the economic news is about income inequality, and every few days you read about athletes getting mega-million dollar deals, or a Chief Executive getting a multi-million dollar pay raise and another CEO gets millions of dollars in a severance deal after getting fired, it is no secret to anyone that money is indeed a major cause of stress in America,”  says Robert Barrows, President of R.M. Barrows Advertising and Public Relations in San Mateo, California.

“Not only are the rich getting richer, it seems that you read about income inequality in the news every few days now," says Barrows.

"You read about Congress debating whether to raise the minimum wage a few dollars, and at the same time, if you turn a few pages in, you will see the real economic news...American economy still in doldrums, millions still unemployed...time is running out...while others are getting paid millions....

...So what are the rest of us supposed to do if you can’t play football, if you can’t hit a home run, if you haven’t figured out how to make a million dollars on Wall Street or whatever other street you are on? The best we can do is to try hard to struggle through...and one more thing we can do to relieve some of that stress about money is to vent our frustrations with a Hip-Hop song about money called called ‘Big Bucks,’” says Barrows.

“I think you will find that ‘Big Bucks’ will resonate with everyone who is stressed out about money, says Barrows, and I think you will find that the lyrics are timeless and universal, too."

A lot of the theme of “Big Bucks is about the hopes of making big money. Some of the lyrics go like this:

“It don’t take brains. It don’t take brawn. I only hope it don’t take too long.”

People can hear a free clip of “Big Bucks”  at  www.barrows.com/music.html and they can also download the song for 99 cents on iTunes at

Here is some background and information on the song and its airplay:

Barrows originally wrote Big Bucks as a poem in the mid 1980s after some second-string second baseman, who seldom hit over .200, got a multi-million dollar deal just for playing baseball.

Then, in 1998, Barrows teamed up with a musician named Gary Warren, of Sacramento, California, and they co-wrote the song version of “Big Bucks.”

The song was originally released in 1999 to radio stations that played rap and hip-hop. “Big Bucks” and another song on the CD called “Run For Office,” a satire on politics, both got some airplay.

Some of the other lyrics to “Big Bucks” are along these lines:

“How do they get in those jobs with the big bucks? How did they get there? Who and or what did they know?”

The song goes on in this vein and then it ends with the lines:

“In the game of money, competition is tough...Keep going for your dreams until you find Big Bucks, Big Bucks.”

Followed by... “I need money... Big Bucks...I need money.”

“Don’t we all?” says Barrows. “Too bad I can’t play football. Maybe I’ll make my millions if millions of people download these songs?” he adds.

Another poem that Barrows would like to be able to turn into a song is a poem he wrote called “It used to be Made in America.”

It used to be Made in America is about the loss of jobs and the consequences of the outsourcing of manufacturing to other countries. You can see the poem online at www.itusedtobemadeinamerica.com

In addition to doing advertising and songwriting, Barrows is also an inventor, author and sculptor.

The invention is a video tombstone called the Video Enhanced Gravemarker (U.S. Patent #7,089,495) www.barrows.com/invention.html, and he is also the author of a book called “Cemetery of Lies,” www.barrows.com/novel.html.

You can see some of his sculpture at www.barrows.com/gallery.html.
