WASHINGTON - Feb. 3, 2015 - PRLog -- The Washington, D.C.-based non-profit organization Global Ties U.S. is pleased to announce the 2015 Latin America Dialogue: Strengthening Relations in the Western Hemisphere.

WHAT: Topics include diplomatic engagement strategies in the Americas, the path forward with Cuba, economic development and trade policy, and trends in perception of the United States throughout the Americas.

WHEN: February 4, 2015, from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
WHERE: The Organization of American States Great Hall – Main Building

WHO: José Miguel Insulza, Secretary General of OAS; Jon Clifton, Managing Director of Gallup World Poll will frame the Dialogue with current data on the state of relations with the Americas.  Other sessions include a conversation between Wall Street Journal Global Economics Editor Neil King and Secretary Carlos Gutierrez; a debate on Cuba engagement strategies with leading experts Amb. Jim Jones, Jason Marczak of the Atlantic Council and Daniel Fisk of the International Republican Institute (IRI).  Spotlight sessions include the (acting) Ambassador of Brazil Ernesto Henrique Fraga Araújo, Congressmen Rep. Joaquín Castro (TX-20) and Rep. Tony Cardenas (CA-29); and a look back on past public diplomacy programs in the Americas led by former Ambassador Tom Pickering.

WHY: Global Ties U.S. is sponsoring the Latin America Dialogue, in partnership with the U.S. Mission of the Organization of American States, as part of the 75th Anniversary of the U.S. Department of State International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).  The event coincides with the Global Ties U.S. National Meeting – a gathering that brings more than 700 leaders from 120 organizations in 45 States and 13 Countries to Washington, DC each year.

PRESS: Event is open to credentialed press.  Camera set up begins at 7:30am and must be completed by 8:45am.
