Man Who Alleged an Unlawful Arrest in Bedford Stuyvesant Brooklyn Accepts City's $37,500 Settlement

NEW YORK - Jan. 28, 2015 - PRLog -- Maurice S., who had alleged an unlawful arrest in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn accepted the City of New York's offer to finally resolve his allegations contained within his Federal Court Complaint for $37,500.00.

Allegations Within Maurice's Complaint

In July of 2014, Maurice had just left his apartment and was in the vicinity of Throop Avenue and Hart Street. He was approached by two plain-clothes NYPD officers, grabbed and handcuffed. He was transported to the 79th precinct and then taken to Brooklyn Central Booking for arraignment. There he learned that he had been criminally charged with violating NY PL220.39, criminal sale of a controlled substance; violating NY PL 220.39, criminal possession of a controlled substance; and violating NY PL 220.16 and 220.03.

After his arraignment, Maurice was taken to Riker's Island where he spent six days. When he returned to court, all of the criminal charges which had been levied against him were dismissed in the entirety.
